Why Ride the Shuttle?

The wine trail is the attraction. The shuttle is how you experience it — safely, comfortably, and without missing a single tasting.

Hop-On, Hop-Off

Park once at Grandfather Vineyard and hop the shuttle between wineries all day. Two scenic loops, seven stops — ride one or ride both.

Fully Licensed & Insured

NC For-Hire plates, $1.5M commercial liability, and NC Commerce Tax compliant. Not a rideshare — a real, regulated transportation service.

No Uber Up Here

Rideshare doesn't exist in the mountains. Our shuttle runs on a schedule you can count on — rain or shine, every Thu–Sat.

We Know These Roads

Winding two-lane mountain roads and no cell service are no place for distracted or impaired driving. Our professional drivers know every turn.

Everyone Gets to Taste

No more designated driver debates. Everyone in your group can enjoy every winery — couples, friend groups, girls' weekends, bachelor parties.

Any Size Group

Solo rider? Couple? Cabin full of friends? The shuttle works for 1–14 guests. Need more? We'll add a vehicle. See pricing →

How the Shuttle Works

Two scenic loops, both starting and ending at Grandfather Vineyard — your home base for parking, first tasting, and crossing over between routes.

Comfortable vehicles matched to your group size. Professional drivers who know every mountain road. Free parking at Grandfather. This is the easiest way to taste the trail.

  • Banner Elk Loop (Thu–Sat): Grandfather → Banner Elk Winery → Eagles Nest → Linville Falls
  • West Jefferson Loop (Thu–Sat): Grandfather → Mill Camp → Old Barn → Thistle Meadow
  • Crossover Pass: Ride both loops in one day — like a theme park hopper (+$29)
  • Private Group Tours: Customize any route for your group (6+ guests)

Your Safety, Our Standard

Every Wine Loop and Private Tour is operated by Ashe County Livery — fully licensed and commercially insured for passenger transportation in North Carolina.

NC For-Hire Plates

Every vehicle in our fleet carries North Carolina For-Hire license plates — registered and inspected for commercial passenger service. Not personal plates, not rideshare — legitimate for-hire transportation.

$1.5 Million Commercial Liability

Our vehicles carry $1.5 million in Commercial Shared Liability (CSL) insurance — real commercial coverage that protects every passenger on every ride. No gaps. No exclusions.

NC Transportation Commerce Tax

We pay the NC Transportation Commerce Tax required of for-hire carriers. Fully compliant with state regulations — because cutting corners on safety isn't how we operate.

Why does this matter? If a company transports passengers for compensation using personal plates and a personal auto policy, there is a significant risk that the insurance carrier could deny coverage after a serious accident. The real question isn't whether a rule was broken — it's whether your passengers would actually have reliable coverage after a crash. With Ashe County Livery, the answer is always yes.
